The Office of Student Life promotes student health and wellness through quarterly programming, advising support, and access to University resources. Northwestern Health Services is the University medical care provider, and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is the primary campus resource for mental health counseling.

Student Life Advising

Students who are looking for a Kellogg administrator with whom to discuss events in their lives and strategies for responding to them can speak to members of the Office of Student Life. Student Life advisors can also connect you with Northwestern and Evanston resources. Common subjects that members of the Office of Student Life advise on are: the student experience, health concerns, social life, handling a major life change, culture shock, or other life events. Email Dean Fran Langewisch or  Jarvis Broom to set up an appointment.

Kellogg Wellness Resources and Programming

The Office of Student Life offers quarterly wellness sessions as part of its mission to support student wholeness. With the help of mental health professionals, Kellogg faculty, and students, our goal is to help each other tend to our mental health and explore the relationship between our mind and body. 

Our free health and wellness programming includes support groups and talking circles, intro-to-therapy sessions, yoga, sound baths, reiki, breath classes, embodiment practices, as well as workshops on topics of mental health in graduate school. Invitations are sent out quarterly to all current students and can be found on CampusGroups.



The Wellness Club is student-run organization that empowers Kellogg community members to take control of their personal wellness, by offering programs and sharing information that cultivate mind, body, and soul. Find them on Slack: #wellness

The Good Life is a student-run organization whose mission is to remind students that their lives are defined by more than just their job titles.  TGL seeks to help students identify what they value, to stimulate conversations about these values, and to encourage a habit of reflection to ensure they keep these values in sight. The goal is to help Kellogg students begin to live their best lives at Kellogg and beyond. Find them on Slack: #thegoodlife

Kellogg Cares Club is a student-run organization that raises awareness of community issues and organizes service events to help Kellogg students make volunteering and community service a fun, memorable, and impactful part of their business school experience. Northwestern Wellness Resources and Programming

Northwestern University offers robust wellness programming to help students live longer, manage current health conditions, and support recovery from illness, injury, and addiction. All MBA students are eligible to utilize these resources, and many Kellogg students have found them to be helpful in the past.

Counseling Resources

NU CAPS is always available for counseling and psychological services. For more info and guidance from your peers, refer to the KSA Therapy Guide. Additionally, The NU CAPS Referral Guide allows students to search for Chicago and Evanston area therapists by treatment specialty, gender, race, sexuality or insurance type. (Note: The therapists listed in the referral guides are not endorsed by CAPS or KSA, and some may not accept NU-SHIP health insurance. Please call CAPS with any questions about finding a therapist at 847-491-2151.)

Northwestern has also partnered with TimelyMD, a leading provider of virtual health and well-being services for higher education, to offer Northwestern students free virtual mental health support through the TimelyCare platform.
 
TimelyCare gives you access to a number of virtual well-being resources, including:

  • Scheduled Counseling: appointment-based mental health sessions with a licensed counselor.
  • TalkNow: on-demand access to a mental health practitioner to talk about anything at any time.
  • Health Coaching: scheduled appointments to help you address and maintain optimal sleep, nutrition, exercise, weight, and stress management strategies for a holistic well-being approach.
  • Group Sessions: weekly guided meditation and yoga group sessions, plus specialized discussions throughout the year.

Temporary/Short-Term Disability Accommodations

Kellogg is committed to fostering a community of access, belonging and accountability. In service of this goal, the Office of Student life has a fund to support Kellogg students in need of temporary/short-term disability resources. This fund includes temporary accommodations such as: transportation to and from classes, course-note takers for students with visual impairments, standing desk for students who cannot sit for long periods of time, and other academic and co-curricular support.

How to request accommodations

Students who wish to request an accommodation for a temporary/short-term disability should complete the Student Life Accommodation Request Form. Please allow Student Life 2 business days to review and process your request.

Exercise Resources

The Henry Crown Fitness Center and all Northwestern Recreation services are available to Kellogg students. Exercise classes, personal training, massages, and many other services are offered at low cost or no charge to Northwestern students.

KFit's mission is to use fitness as a vehicle for creating an inclusive and fun community for all Kellogg students. Open to anyone regardless of prior experience and fitness goals, this club is the first stop for any member of the Kellogg community who wants to live an active, healthy lifestyle! Find KFit on Slack: #kfit

Reflection Room | Maternity Room

Reflection Room: The Global Hub is equipped with electronic-free space for quiet introspection and/or meditation. You can find the student reflection room on the second floor of the Global Hub in room 2135.

Maternity Room: Kellogg students have access to a maternity room on the lower level (room L065). The room is for use for pumping or breastfeeding only. Email scheduling-kgh.northwestern.edu for permission and to receive access to the Outlook calendar to book the space, limited to 30-minute sessions. The room can only be book 2 weeks out.  At the reservation time, access is granted to the room, and it locks from the inside.  Be advised there is no refrigeration in the space so a cooler bag is suggested.

Northwestern Health Services (NUHS)

All degree-seeking students have access to primary-care providers through the Northwestern University Health Services (NUHS), at no cost, irrespective of whether they are enrolled in the NU-SHIP or an alternate plan. (Students enrolled in NU-SHIP are required to initiate care at NUHS.) NUHS is conveniently located only a few blocks from the Global Hub, and has regular business hours (Mon., Wed.-Fri., 8:30am-5:00 pm; Tues. 8:30am-6:00pm), with urgent care available on Sat. mornings (9:00-11:30am) when classes are in session. NUHS provides a convenient option for students to receive primary care with additional services and referrals also available.

Student Health Insurance

The Student Insurance Office manages the NU-SHIP healthcare plan. JVs and children of students are eligible for coverage under Northwestern's NU-SHIP insurance policy for graduate students.
